No sensation to pee

Hello, I had my complete hysterectomy Jan 14th and since then I have found it very difficult to pee. I don't have any sensation or urge to go. I've had back pain off and on but was told that it was normal. I went to the ER Sunday night cause the pain was bad and after my urine culture came back clean I was told I pulled my back and told to see a urologist. I had my appointment today and gave my urine. They found that it was full of white blood cells and when they were doing a bladder scan they foud I had 734ml of urine in me, so they quickly cathederized me. They couldnt believe that I have over 900ml come out of me! I now have a foley in from now until they find out what's wrong. They had a extremely hard time inserting it. Has this happened to anyone else and I so what caused it? I have a kidney scan and a full stomach ultra sound and cat scan scheduled in the next for days. I'm really nervous... Thank you for your advice!!

Re: No sensation to pee

The ER didn't feel the full bladder? It could be that your bladder just needs a rest and wearing a foley for a few days or so will help you get the sensation back. Be sure you drink plenty of water. Did they give you any antibiotics?

Re: No sensation to pee

That was what I said!! Unfortunately I was sent to the ER Express and they leave at 9pm and it was 915. My doctor was not happy. I got some results back and I have a UTI and Bladder infection. She put me on AZO and Cipro. I waiting to hear back about my kidneys. She thinks there is a very good chance I have a kidney infection as well and might need IV antibiotics. I've been drink tons of water and cranberry juice. I have needed to empty my bag every hour or so, I still have no sensation but I have pain! Tons of pain, I can't sit up right and to move. There are times when the pain gets worse and I've noticed it's when my bag starts to fill up.

Re: No sensation to pee

I had my surgery on July 17th, 2012. My bladder has been "asleep" ever since, I have been told that it may wake up and may not. I have trained myself to go every few hours. I have no problem urinating, just no sensation that I have to go.

Re: No sensation to pee

Hi I had my hysterectomy sept 2011, u sound just like me, I posted yesterday, I did have the urge to go though but I was retaining 1200ml so I think my bladder was near bursting point, I had urethra catheterisation for months trying urethra dilation and self catheterisation but like u they struggled to get catheter in so no way I could!! I now now superpubic catheter which was fitted last June, it's fine I cope well it's just the 12 weekly change it's horrendous. I had all the tests your booked in for, bladder scan showed bladder works 110% so strong but something blocking, cameras only find scar tissue, I'm now going in on 22nd June for a different consultant to stretch ureathra to the max. I hope you get some answers soon x
