My Trip to Hyster-Land

Trip began at 6:30 am on Friday. Took the kids to a babysitter, and drove the 20 miles to pick DH up from work. Then went to the castle for 8:15 check in. Went back to day surgery and waited about half an hour for a bed. The nurse took me in and wieghed me, gave me my fashion gown, and told me to lay down. They then started my IV and asked me 2001 questions. I was taken to surgery right on schedule at 10:00 am. The anesthesiologist gave me a shot that he said would make my eyes feel crossed and make me feel wonderful, he said he would tell me when he was going to put me to sleep. If he did, i don't remember. The next thing I remember is waking up in the recovery room with the anest. asking me what his name was. I think I answered him, but couldn't prove it. I woke up again in my room with DH and best friend there. The nurses forgot to give me my button to push, and my hubby got upset and told them all about it!!! Once they gave it to me, I was good. Dh and friend left about 3:30, so I could sleep. At dinner they brought me milk, tomato soup(yaaaack!!), coffee and grape juice. I drank the coffee and grape juice, and got sick about an hour later. Then they brought me another cup of coffee, when another friend was there, and I puked again! The night was pretty uneventful. They said I only used my pump three times.
In the morning they came to take my catheter out(after I had whined all night about how annoying it was!!), gave me a last dose of antibiotics in my iv and let me take a shower. I got dressed and they brought lunch(Yaaaaaaack!!!) again. Dh and father in law came at 12:30 to take me home.
We had an hour and a half wait at the pharmacy for my pain meds, and then had a flat tire on the freeway home.
Today I am 3 days post op and feeling WONDERFUL!!! The gas has passed, first BM earlier today. I have been resting and drinking tons of liquid. I helped put some laundry away and made my own pudding this morning. Pillow Police had a COW!!! I rested alot in between, and ate a good dinner tonight. I have given up the pain meds for tylenol. Hopefully it will last.
The only restrictions I was given were no sex and no heavy lifting, and rest alot.
I want to thank everyone here for all the help and I will do what I can to help the LIW. This is a wonderful place and is almost solely responsible for my being sane at this moment.

My Trip to Hyster-Land

Hello Princess Kelly!!!

Your journey sounds interesting, especially the flat tire on the freeway. Ugh.

Now you are home and you can relax and enjoy a wonderful smooth recovery!

Ahem.... the restrictions? Did you know lifting includes any abdominal stress, such as: making beds, bending or reaching, (no loading or unloading the dishwasher),.... no housework! Yay for you! Just let stuff go for a while, okay? The pudding sounds yummy.... was it chocolate??

Welcome home, sweetie! May you behave yourself and be a pampered princess so that you can have a great recovery!
