Energy ~~~

Hi, Hey-Jud,

I'm sorry you don't have energy at 2 1/2 weeks postop. I think you're normal as can be.

It's important to remember that the initial recovery period after a hysterectomy is 6 to 8 weeks. It takes from 6 months to a year for complete healing. You're still very early in your initial recovery period.

At 2 1/2 weeks postop, I took several naps every day. The rest of the time, I drank water and walked, and I rested. Please listen to what your body is telling you. If your body says rest, then you need to rest. There's lots of healing going on inside your body, and rest is required to allow the healing to happen.

For me, it took 6 weeks before I felt my energy return. For some ladies, it takes longer. Yes, you're normal, and you're not alone.

I hope this helps. Take good care of yourself, and your energy will return, in time.

Best wishes,
Helen

energy?

I had a slight surge of energy at 2 1/2 weeks and decided to go to the office the following week. My energy ran out after two hours at the desk and I crept home and slept the rest of the day and most of the next. Hang in there. By 6 weeks, you should be starting to feel good again. Enjoy the rest time, be a princess. You really really do need six weeks minimum before you start to feel the benefits of the whole ordeal!

Energy ~~~

Hi Ms. Boddy,
Energy whats that? lol
Helen is right you are still very early in your recovery, at 2 1/2 weeks post I wasn't doing anything except resting, drinking, and little walks. Initial healing is 6-8 weeks, then it takes around a year for total healing. I am almost 5 months post and I still get tired really easy, I am thinking that it will take the full year before my energy is totally back, and I feel totally normal again. Please know that what you are feeling is very normal, and give yourself time to get back to normal. I know it is really hard when you are normally very active and energetic to have to wait for the healing to be complete, but you just have to give your body the time it needs to heal. Also you are starting to get to the point where your internal stitches are starting to disolve, and you get more tired, and start feeling your surgery more at this point.
Listen to your body, when it says rest, please rest.
Take Care & Big s
