slippers for the hospital? and can I wear Cinderella's
well, I have my security items, chocolate for the nurses all packed, and am washing (more) clothes as I type - and of course - yes, another Lynda question (but sisters, honest, this helps and is saving me tons of money on therapy) (LOL but serious) --did anyone wear hospital slippers - I assume someone puts them on - I can't bend now to get elastic slippers on, and never wear them anyway - I do have animal slippers (big ducks ) - I love my ducks, and don't wear them either, but I can slip into them - and they fit (I think) - will I be able to walk the halls with them on my feet without killing myself - if not I think I'll bring slip on shoes for support- forget tying my walking shoes (LOL) ---although if I packed them - my big sucker hi tops, for aerobics (100 years ago) everyone will think I am coping well and optimistic, don't ya think?

Hi Lynda!
I brought slip-on slippers so that I would not have to bend down to my feet to mess with it.
I'm thinking you can leave your hi-tops at home, safely in the closet, and keep them there for the next few weeks. Bending to reach the feet is really not a good idea while in initial recovery.
I really liked Dot's comparison: when you cut your finger, bending it can hinder its healing. Think of it that way.

Your posts are so much fun to read!
You will want something you can slide your feet into without bending over at all. I would recommend something you don't have to wiggle around to get your foot in, too. I agree, you don't want something you might trip in.
At my hospital they gave me socks with the non-skid design on the soles. I used the slip on slippers I brought from home because of not wanting to bend to put socks on. Never saw the hospital slippers you are talking about.

Hi, Lynda,
You'll want some kind of shoes or slippers, because hospital floors are dirty, and they sometimes hold little surprises, like needles which have accidentally been dropped.
I wore flipflops in the hospital, which would also be good shower shoes. You'll be receiving pain medications, probably, so be sure the shoes or slippers you bring to the hospital stay on your feet, and that you can walk in them safely.
It sounds like you're doing a thorough job of getting ready. Just remember to get some rest before your surgery, and don't forget to breathe!
Best wishes,
Helen

Hi Lynda, wear your ducks, the nurses will get a big kick out of them, as long as they have nonskid soles (those waxed tile floors can be slippery!). I tried the hospital slippers once, there's no comparison with bringing your own.

Hi Lynda!!
My hospital gave us these little pull-on type slippers with rubber "grabbers" at the bottom and they worked well and kept my feet warm too. I did bring my own slippers, but never wore them. If your doctor or hospital doesn't supply the little slippers I would really recommend something SIMPLE to slip on and off since you don't want to fall.
I have Eeyore furry slippers my DH got me a couple years ago for my birthday. Would have loved to give the nurses and assistants laughs w/ those. :-)
Lots of s to you!!
