Laparoscopy Anyone???

Sonyia,

Laparoscopic surgery is used for many different kinds of things: to perform a hysterectomy, to remove an ovary, to remove fibroids, to remove endometriosis or adhesions, etc.

What type of laparoscopic surgery are you going to have? We need a little more information in order to be more helpful

I had a diagnostic lap about 16 years ago when my gyn was looking for endometriosis. I had a lap myomectomy last summer to have two fibroids removed. The one thing I can tell you about both of these procedures is that they were done on an outpatient basis and the recovery was short ... a week or less. Also, I had two small incisions each time and not much pain.

If you are having a laparoscopic hysterectomy you still have a lot of internal healing despite the small incisions so the typical early recovery is 6 to 8 weeks.

Keep reading and posting and we'll be here for you every step of the way

Beth

TRY NOT TO WORRY

SONYIA,
YES I HAVE HAD 9 OF THEM. ALL WERE DAY SURGERY AND I WAS BACK IN MY OWN BED THAT NIGHT. I NEVER TOOK ANY PAIN MEDS OR HAD ANY PROBLEM, AND ONE OF MY SURGERIES WAS 4
AND A HALF HOURS LONG. THEY MAKE 3 SMALL INCISIONS IN YOUR STOMACH, ONE BY YOUR BELLY BUTTOM AND THE OTHER TWO ON EACH OF YOUR SIDES BY YOUR OVARIES. THEN THEY INSERT A CAMERA TO GUIDE THE INTRUMENT TO DO THE REPAIRS.
THESE ARE ALL DONE THROUGH THE SMALL 1" INCISIONS, IT IS TRUELY AMAZING. I DON'T KNOW WHY YOU ARE HAVING A LAP
BUT FROM MY EXPERIENCE I CAN TELL YOU NOT TO WORRY.
GOOD LUCK
