Birth control pills post op???

I have a problem with having cysts on my ovaries that tend to be painful at times. My doctor said my hormones are getting back into the swing of things. My right ovary is the size of a lemon and I have a bleeding cyst on it. i have to take birth control pills for the next three months to regulate my ovaries. I am 3 weeks post-op for TAH. He said my ovaries are not in bad condition, just my horomones are off. Has anyone had to take the pill after their hysterectomy? My other problems are over, my open wound is almost closed, and my bladder infection is gone. Thank GOD!!!
Now I am starting to feel much better.

Birth control pills post op???

Hi Danielle

I didn't have to take Birth Control pills after my surgery, but, possibly, someone else will come along with the experience you're having.

You can do a "search" on "Birth Control Pills" and might find that this has been discussed before.

Wishing you the best of luck.

Just came of BCP's last week

Had SAH 9/21/01. (DH had vasectomy 14 years ago). Developed a very painful cyst late December. Doc put me on bcp's, cyst ruptured nearly two weeks ago. Off the pill now.

So I guess you could say we were practicing really safe sex? All we needed was a latex product to cover all bases?

I personally was very frustrated to be on the pill after a vasectomy AND a hyst but the pill did the trick.
