My hot flashes are easier than the Freezing flashes I'm getting
Hi, well I shouldn't complain, but I will I've been doing great with my recovery, I'm 3 weeks post op now and feeling wonderful, still a bit sore, but way better than I'd expected. But.............at nite when I go to bed, I'm FREEZING and can't get warm. I turn on the electric blanket to high, have the covers over my head and tucked around me, and I'm still SOOOOOOO COLD. I lay there and shake until I fall asleep. Then I'll wake up drenched in sweat and be super hot, toss of the covers, cool off, and back to freezing. I thought the hot flashes would be the hard part of waiting to get on hormones because of the endometriosis, but I think the cold flashes or whatever they are are worse. And at my one week post op appointment, the doctor told me to come back in 5 weeks and I'd be put on hormones. Well, the receptionist made the appointment 6 weeks later, not 5, so now I have an extra week to wait to get on the hormones UGH. Instead of 3 more weeks, I have 4 till hormones. Shoot, I think I'll call right now and see if I can get in a week earlier if I whine about the hormones, maybe she'll squeeze me in.

Hi,
I know what you mean. I'm just over 2 weeks for a TAH and have also been having the freezing at night and wake up drenched in sweat. I did keep my ovaries, they have just gone on vacation for a little while. The doctor said he would call in a precription for hormones if I needed them for a while. I don't know why they would make you wait four weeks!
Take care and hope you are feeling better soon!
Cindy

Hi LisaJean
Seems like your doctor is in no hurry to put you on hormones.
Just a curious question if you don't mind me asking. If your condition of cold and hot disappears before you get to see your doctor, would you still consider going on hormones?
I have seen my gyn for post op check up 4 days ago as I had my TAH/BSO on Jan 22nd. I told him that I feel sweaty sometimes during the day and night but he said he would see me in 6 months time and then we would decide. He said sometimes these are due to hormonal changes and some would just pass in the course of time. I find that I'm getting less sweaty compared to earlier so I hope it would disappear.
