A New Princess on March 5th!

Hiya ladies!

I'm off to the castle on March 5th! Since I'm in the process of packing my castle bag, I'd like to ask the beautiful Post-Op Princesses what you found useful to take with you to the castle (or what you wished you would have taken)! I just want to make sure I'm actually taking what will be useful, I'm trying to keep what I take to a minimum.

So far I have: Lightweight robe, slip-on slippers, pads (those hospital pads are NASTY), backscratcher, eyemask, toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo & conditioner, shower gel, deodorant, hair scrunchies & hairclips (to hold my hair up when I shower), chapstick, tummy pillow. I figure the clothes I wear in are the clothes I'll wear home, so I don't need to pack any other clothing.

Anything else that you found useful? Toonces, I remember that you had a pretty good list....

Thanks, sisters one and all, for your help!

Love ya,

Chris

Hi Chris!

Sounds like you're pretty good to go! You may want to add a little bottle of lotion if you have dry skin like me. Those meds and the dry air in the castle can make your skin even more dry. I took some pretty pj's with me for putting on after the IV & cath were removed, but this is a personal decision. With me, having something pretty to wear on the outside made me feel better on the inside. Those hospital gowns seem to get tangled while in the bed since the back's open and they are lots of times washed so much they're missing snaps or strings or just old looking with holes.

My dh brought me a small cooler of drinks so I could have something whenever I wanted without having to wait on the nurse. Plenty of fluids is very important. A friend gave me a sucker that helped with the dry mouth caused by the anesthesia & pain meds. Be careful with sucking on hard candy...don't want you to doze off & choke on it.

Come back & let us know how it all goes for you!

Chris,

Sounds like you got the list down. I did what Pdawn did and took my own hospital gowns. (I got them mailorder). I loved her cooler idea. I drove the PCA's crazy sending them for soda. I had to break up the water monotony. FYI, I took a book and because of the pain meds & anesthesia, couldn't get my eyeballs to focus on the words. I'd advise leaving books home. I had DH go and buy me a People. Print was bigger and didn't make my eyes cross.
