Hello Fellow Hyster Sisters

Hello Heath,
I should think you would be confused. I denied needing surgery for a number of months, then was angry about it, before finally giving in. Had lots of time to seek info and to get mentally/physically prepared. You are catching up physically and emotionally.

I'm four months post and have my energy level and then some regained. No extra pounds and the patch is working for me. Hope you feel a little better each day!!! Jan

Hello Fellow Hyster Sisters

Hi Heath, yes, of course it's natural you would feel confused. Having a hyst. is an emotional thing even if you know about it beforehand and have made the decision to do it, but it must be even more confusing when it's a complete surprise!
Luckily you have come to the right place. If you take your time and read some of the threads from other sisters you will find that at some time or another we have all felt confusion, fear, sadness, anger (usually at our bodies), grief, relief and elation! I'm sure your wouldn't have done the hyst. if he or she didn't firmly believe it was the best (or only) option for you. That means that you can look forward now to a much better quality of life than you would have had without it. Most of us are Soooooo glad we had ours! Welcome to the new !

s,

- Linda

Hello Fellow Hyster Sisters

Hello Heath and welcome to HysterSisters! I'm so glad you have found us and have posted.

I agree with the others; of course it's natural to feel confused after this major surgery, especially if you weren't prepared for it! I hope that your Dr. had at least discussed with you the possibility of having a hysterectomy beforehand, unless it was done under emergency circumstances?

If you'd like, share some of the reasons that you ended up having your hyst, and you'll find others who have had similar situations.

In the meantime, you need lots of and non-carbonated beverages (to avoid gas), and frequent short s for exercise. Please post any questions or concerns that you may have and we will try to help and support you.

Best wishes and s

Hello Fellow Hyster Sisters

Hi Heath!
Glad you came to join us! How are you feeling physically? I surely hope you are getting lots of rest, lots of fluid and lots of love.

I, too, had unexpected surgery. I went to the DR for what I thought was a small problem to be solved in the office, and ended up being admitted for emergent surgery (New Year's Eve none the less!). I think that this typr of surgery seems to leave even the most prepared a bit confused and defenseless feeling for a bit. For those of us who entered into it with no emotional or educational preparation, I guess it is even more confusing.

Do you feel like you have just been in a whirlwind and don't know where it came from? Its a tough transition, at least for me.
But, have faith, use the forums and post regularly. I have had so many questions, concerns addressed here. Reading other ladies posts make me see that I am not alone and help is just an email away!
Look forward to hearing from you again. Rest, relax, and enjoy being taken care of for a while!
Take care
TJ
