awaiting TAH and bladder sling surgery

Within the next month I will be having a TAH and bladder sling surgery. My main concern is the homonal problems afterwards and the best replacement therapy. I am 47 years old and I already have a low sex drive and I was wondering about testosterone. Is this just for men? I was also wondering about how long I will have to be off of work. I work an office job with a high stress level. dispatcher. I also want to know how long I will have to wear a catheter from the bladder surgery.

Hi, I can only address the HRT. Many women do supplement with testosterone (there is a natural cream) to help with libido, bones and energy. Many women supplent all their hormones but also using estrogen and progesterone. I personally would suggest you look into bio-identical HRT (like your body makes) rather going the synthetic route. Go to www.hormonejungle.com and read the info on the pull down menu. Also feel free to visit us on the hormone jungle forum

Just returned from the bladder sling. Had a spinal, no problems. Only problem was they took the catheter out the next morning as scheduled and through poor communication from nurses (or lack of) just told me to drink water and "go wee'. After almost 6 hours and waling the hospital halls-- no wee. Had words with them since I was in awful pain after 5 jugs of water---and had Dr. called. He had me immediately catheterised again and then I was told I was swolen and had to keep it in at home ALL weekend. Real frustrating.
He took it out at 8 this AM and said drink normal and call if no results in about 3 hours. Good results and feels just a bit like you would witha slight bladder infection, just different but getting better. And dry so far!!

But....to add to the last post of mine and as encouragement...it is 5 days now after the surgery, I drove myself to work, no pain-never really did except my back and legs, feel great and I am wearing white pants and they are NOT wet!! The little incisions I have are less than a half inch and are down near the pubic bone. Also not of tremendous interest to me but I now have my summer shave!!
