pinched nerve

I found out from my doctor that I have a pinched nerve from my surgery which happened when my right hip was sitting on a nerve. It isnt' painful but very uncomfortable. He said to take advil which really doesn't help as I've taken Aleve and Extra Strength Tylenol. They said if not better in a month or two to get to my family doctor for some therapy - guess he won't take care of what he caused! HA! Anyway, I'm going tomorrow morning for a full body massage to concentrate on my upper thigh and then leaving at noon for the airport and then on to Holland! Wish me luck!

Anyone out there have a pinched nerve and if so, what did ya do?

pinched nerve

Jodene, I'm so sorry you've been having this problem. I haven't had this problem, however, if you do a "Search" (that's one of the small purple buttons at the top of the message board) on "Pinched Nerve", you'll see that his has been discussed before. Hopefully, you'll find some answers that might help with your problem.

Sending healing s your way.

pinched nerve

Jodene:

I too am suffering from a trapped nerve. My surgery was Jan 21. For right now I am trying a drug called vioxx to help with inflammation and then starting therapy. Am waiting to hear from a nuerologist who will do some testing on the nerve to check the blood flow. According to my Dr. there really is nothing to do to fix it just time. The pain was much worse prior to taking the Vioxx Vioxx is just an anti inflammitory so not sure why it helps but it does a little bit not much. I wish you well on your plane ride. I am sure that it will be painful on your hip so stretch lots keep those legs moving for sure you do not want stale blood building up in those legs.

Take care

pinched nerve

Jodene,

I had this problem when I had laproscopic surgery last June. What caused it was a shot in the hip that must've hit the nerve. It was very painful for a long time. My doctor told me it only heals 3mm per month. It is finally starting to feel better after 8 months! They also gave me vioxx, but I did not take it because it can cause heart problems. Eventually it will get better, it will take some time though.

Feel better,

Cindy

Jodene, Cindy and K, if you conduct a "Search" on "pinched nerve", you will find several other threads dealing with this issue. While not all of them may be relevant to the problems you've been experiencing, some might provide some answers.

Sending tons of Healing s your way.

pinched nerve

Jolene,
How is your pinched nerve? Are you much improved since your Febraury post? I had surgery on May 1 and am suffering from a pinched nerve in my groin area. It has been very painful aalthough the pain has improved this past week. My dr. had the same response yesterday--no more pain meds and if it still hurts go see your primary-care physician, even though the surgery he performed caused the pain! It is really frustrating.
Did you get any help from your family doctor? I am wondering if it's worth scheduleing a visit next week?
Did you find that walking or any other type of activity helped?
Did the full-body massage help?
Thanks
Kim
