Candy for the Nurses

How and when did you give your appreciation candy to the nurses? Did you leave it out with a note, give it when you left..... What is the proper etiquette for such a thing????

Candy for the Nurses

As a former hospital nurse, all goodies are appreciated. Homemade cookies or brownies at your bedside are an added incentive to get your nurse or assistant to visit you more frequently to make sure you're ok. Make sure you let them know it's for them. Other favorites are bagels, fruit and candy. Definately leave a note to show who it's from and if possible, have a smaller portions set aside for the evening and night shifts. Nothing survives the hords of day shift. I'd bring it 1st day. Good luck!

Candy for the Nurses

Hi Susie!! I'm 3 weeks post for a TAH/BSO on 2/13/02. It was the day before Valentine's Day, so I brought in a box of Turtles (chocolate) candy and had my DH bring them in the hospital with my suitcase. The day after I was there (V-Day), I gave the RN taking care of me the candy to take to the nurse's station. She was very appreciative!

Candy for the Nurses

We just had a long thread on this...scroll through the last few days and you'll find some good ideas!

I brought a small basket, hard candies, and Nestle's Treasures. I kept the basket on my tray table thingie and encouraged everyone (nurses, aides, cleaning people, the paper guy, the TV guy...) to help themselves.

When my husband came to bring me home, he brought up 2 dozen donuts and left them at the nurses' station with a thank you note. It's a wonderful idea, and it brings lots of helpful people to your bedside very frequently! Good for us, good for them.

Whatever makes you comfortable is proper, I think.

Karen
