Hooray for LAVH!

I wouldn't have believed I'd be home & feeling so good just 40 hours after my operation. My surgery got postponed 'til later in the day--was I dehydrated! I should have requested an IV early on.
My surgeon found extensive endo, requiring an extra hour to remove. The right ovary (which I'd thought was fine) was covered with endo, but the left one (my painful side) was good, so it was spared, Yay!--because I can't have HRT.
The worst part of my castle stay was: 1. Being cold and shivery after surgery & not getting a warm blanket for 20 minutes--nurse forgot. 2. Being dehydrated afterwards--saliva glands wouldn't work for 12 hours. 3. Shoulder spasm from being in strained position during surgery. 4. Intestinal gas pains in my upper diaphram--it hurt terribly to inhale for a few hours. 5. 1-1/2 hr bumpy ride home on frost-heaved roads. Once home, I inched into bed and was immediately out like a light.
Today I feel like I have a new lease on life. No more periods, endo removed, an ovary saved.
The information I got from hystersisters eased me through the whole process, let me know what to expect and gave me such helpful tips. I'd like to add one--I put my "survival gear" in a small (4x6") plastic basket, keeping it organized & within reach on my bedside stand.
Thanks all, and good luck to you LIWs!

Hooray for LAVH!

Suebert, thanks for such an inspiring and honest story! I'm having an LAVH in a week, and it helps to hear about it going well!

Thanks also for the survival gear tip. What a great idea.

Good luck with your recovery. May you feel even better every day than you do today.
