laprascopic supracervical

I've just read a news article re: lsh, saying that recovery is faster, scarring and bleeding are less, and they leave the cervix, and that is supposed to preclude some bladder problems. I asked my dr's nurse about it and she says he always leaves the cervix, and removes vaginally if possible (uterus not too large). I'm getting a second opinion, and will bring my dr the article, but does anyone know anything about lsh -- having one, had one...?
Thanks
DonaK

I had an LSH

Hi: I am 3 weeks post op today from a LSH..I did not have my uterus removed via the vagina. The LSH employs a morcellator and trocar to remove the uterus..so there is no trauma to the vagina at all.

I am feeling more than 100% better than I did preoperatively, as I was turning anemic.

This procedure is not done frequently, so it's kinda hard to find women that had it.

Take care.

Any other questions, you can e-mail me directly anytime

lsh

Thanks Anna. It helps to know it really is done. I'll bring the info to my dr. Hope it's an option. Looking at adeno probably, maybe endo.

laprascopic supracervical

Hi Dona --

I'm brand new here, and am still just considering surgery, but thought I would let you know that when my doctor suggested the possibility of hysterectomy, he said it would be LSH.

In my case, I'll be undergoing a lap (whether I decide to go ahead with the hysterectomy or not) because it is likely I have adhesions. The lap will be done to laser any adhesions and if I do decide to go ahead with the hysterectomy, he will remove it through the laparascopic incisions. He said the incisions will be somewhat larger than what I've had with past laps, but since I have a c-section scar, he will try to make the incisions in the same place to avoid further scarring. If I do this, he will take the uterus only, and leave the ovaries and cervix.

From what I understand, this is a much less invasive means of hysterectomy and recovery time is somewhat shorter.

I'm certainly not an expert, but hope this info helps you.

Best wishes to you.
