Hi ladies! I have a question. I am having a TVH in May for uterine prolapse. I have had discharge (normal type discharge but lots of it) for 9 yrs. now. The doctor's have always made the comment that I have a lot of discharge and they always test it. Nothing shows up, though. My question is, will I still have normal discharge after the hysterectomy (after healing time)? It is so annoying having to wear a mini pad all the time. I swear, if I didn't wear the Lightdays pads, I would have to change my underwear about 6 times a day. YUCK! Just wondering if any of you can help me.

Thank you and God's blessings!

Hi Buff!

I have had a discharge since I can remember (high school) and I'm 33 yrs. old now. But it never was bad enough to have to wear a mini pad all the time - just certain days of the month - sometimes around ovulation. If your dr. checks it each time, it sounds like it's perfectly normal and should be nothing to worry about.

I'm 3 weeks post TAH/BSO and spotted for about 2 weeks post, but was told this is very normal, and as long as I take it easy, the spotting doesn't happen.

God Bless and many s coming your way!!

Thanks SugarB! I am just hoping that this discharge will go away after the recovery time. By the time that I get ready in the morning and I don't put on a mini pad, my underwear are wet. It's so embarassing--I feel like everyone knows! Kinda silly, but I still feel that way.
I will also be 33 in April.
I wish you well on your continued healing time! I hope mine goes well!

Thank you for your response!

My doctor told me that after the first week or two that all discharge should end since he is removing the cervix.....I am hoping he is right!!! Best of luck to you and hopefully the discharge will go away!

Hi Beth. I had a TVH/BSO/A&P repair and resuspension for a prolapse on 2/4/02. Like you, I had a slightly heavy but "normal" discharge prior to the surgery. Afterwards I had spotting for about 3 weeks but it gradually tapered off and now at 4 1/2 weeks it has stopped (but I'm still wearing a panty liner just in case...I guess old habits die hard!).
Good luck with your surgery!
