Vitamin E

I have been taking Vitamin E and Evening Primrose for hot flashes and other menopause symptoms for one year since my TAH/BSO and I must admit that the hot flashes are less often and less severe ( I'm not sure if it is the supplements or just time). I can't take HRT because of a blood clotting problem. I started on Fosamax as I lost 11% of my bone mass in 1 1/2 years, so ladies do ask you Dr. for an annual bone scan to moniter this. I saw my cardiologist this week and he told me to stop the Vitamin E as it interferes with my Zocor to lower my cholesterol. Thought I would pass that on to everyone. Always check with your Dr before taking supplements and remind him or her when you see them so you don't have any interactions etc.
Be safe,
Ann

Vitamin E

Thanks for the reminder, Ann. We say this so often, but it always helps to be reminded.

Ann,
what was it about the Vit E that interfered with the Zocor? I was on it for a while and it didnt seem to do any good, but I take 800 MG of Vit E a day also... just wondering

Thanks so much,

Vitamin E

Hi Elaine,
I am not sure, but I do think the Vitamin E interferes with the absorption of the Zocor. I just stopped my Vitamin E and will have a blood test in 3 months, we will see.
Be Safe,
Ann
