Hi Ladies. Today marks 4 weeks post-op, to celebrate I spent last night in the hospital. I had such severe pain in my right side last night that I couldn't hardly move. DD took me to ER where I was assaulted with a battery of tests. At first they thought Appendix, ruled that out and finally a Cat scan revealed a Cyst on my right ovary. WHAT? I have never had one before and don't ever want one again. It was more painful then any pain I have had since surgery. I have an appt. with Dr. in the morning to follow up. Needless to say I am not happy. Has anyone else had this happen? My husband talked to Dr. today and was told I will be put on birth control for awhile. I thought those days were long over. (I had my tubes tied in 92). I also have a vaginal bacterial infection. Sounds like I'm falling apart. I dread my Dr. visit tomorrow because my over-protective DH is going and he is not happy.
Any opions, suggestions, etc... would be appreciated.
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!
Ovarian cyst just stink. They cause so much pain. I am prone to them and prolly still am. I had my TAH in Dec on 2001. I am starting to feel twinges of pain when i ovulate. I assume i may have another. They come and go with me. One was bad enough to have a lap and removal. Yet i still kept them. LOL sadest here !! lol
Caffiene is a huge cause of cyst. And some of us just get them. I hope things are not to bad and can be taken care of easily. I am not entirely sure if your cyst has anything to do with your surgery. I would think prolly not. But I'm not a Dr.
Best of luck to you and keep us updated on your Dr's appointment
Surgery was in September, had a nice 5cm cyst by January. Never had one before, and it was indeed very painful. Doc put me on the pill, which "killed" it. If it had not resolved, the she would have drained it using a scope.
It really messed up my hormones, I was the wicked Xitch of the west.
I'm just home from the Castle yesterday. Told the dr to leave the ovaries unless they were really unhealthy... and then my daughter was to decide if they should stay or go.. Well.. one had a cyst on it and I have a history of ovarian cysts. So he knew better than even ask her and left them both. One gyn told me that women often have cysts every month when they ovulate and are usuallly of no concern. I've had cysts that didn't go away monitored and they cleared up on their own with time.
I'll have another ultra sound in about a month to see how this one is coming along. Sometimes they hurt and I was told that they burst and that's what causes the pain. I am not really concerned that mine will be a problem. Hope all goes well for you.
