Hello Marylanders! I live in Southern Maryland - Charles County.
I found Hyster Sisters a few weeks ago and it has really helped me out. Anyone else out there from Chuck County!?!?!?!

Hi

I haven't seen anyone from Charles County - I live in Howard and work in Montgomery. Hope your surgery went well.

Hi. I'm close to Charles--how about St. Mary's County. I'll have my surgery over in Calvert, though, as that's where my doc practices. I'm scheduled for 5/24. Seems like a looooong time to wait. I'm trying to keep busy, but find surgery at the front of my mind all the time.

Hi Teddy54:

I am having my surgery at Civista in LaPlata. I am scheduled for May 17 for a SAH. Uterus is being removed, but ovaries and cervix are staying. I know what you mean about the wait. I got my date last week, and now it's all I am thinking about. My doc only operates every other Friday (unless an emergency). I chose May 17th because my birthday is May 6, and I wanted to be able to go out and have a good time!

Bikerlady,
Good thinking about postponing until after your birthday! Make it a good one. And just think, by next birthday you will be a year post-op and periods will be a distant memory.

My hubby and I are going to celebrate our 20th anniversary next weekend at a cottage in the woods near Luray Caverns. We planned it a couple of months ago and I'm so glad we did. Maybe that will take my mind off the TAH for a few days. I almost feel like a baby expecting special consideration on every subject, but I have never had any surgery and this so so BIG.

I am so glad I found this site. Isn't it the best?

My doc gave me a hospital choice of Southern Maryland Hospital in Clinton, or Civista. I've heard pretty bad things about Southern Maryland Hosp, and Civista is only 15 min from where I live - so I picked Civista. I work in Crystal City. Pretty much raised in Charles County. My sister lives in Mechanicsville.

Prince Georges County saying hello!

Hello all!

I just had my LAVH in Southern Maryland Hospital, on 4/3. It's my second stay in that hospital. All in all, I was quite satisfied with my treatment there.

My sister lives in Fredricksburg, VA and had her TAH in the hospital there, in January. Almost considered changing docs, just to use the hospital. I've seen a lot of hospitals in my day and this is the nicest one by far! I mean, they have VALET PARKING for patients and the rooms are nicer than most hotels I have ever stayed in! My sister was in a private room that came complete w/ a futon, in case she wanted someone to overnight w/ her. She's also been to a lot of hospitals and was very happy with her treatment there.

My recovery is going well, although I am beginning to become stir-crazy! I am so glad I finally got this done and I feel like a new woman!

I'll keep all of you who have upcoming surgeries in my prayers.

Isabelle

That hospital sounds like a hotel! Valet parking and a private room! At Civista, you share a room with 1 other person. Not too bad I guess. What I like most about Civista is the easy drive from my house. Hardly any major roads and only a few stoplights! Definitely not the big city. Do you live in the southern maryland area?

Hey there bikerlady!
Yes, I do live in Southern MD (Temple Hills/Oxon Hill area). I'm about 30 minutes from Waldorf. My husband grew up just down the road from where we live now and graduated from Potomac high school. I grew up in the Philadelphia area. We have lived all over, but jumped at the opportunity to move back to this area. We just love living here. We moved back in July of 2000.

I have been to Mechanicsville; I have some friends who live there. That is a really nice area. Hard to believe there can be such a rural setting so close to DC.

I'd love to plan a get-together in the late summer early fall when all the Marylanders are fully recouperated from their surgeries. Right now, I am just trying to be still (which is a major job for me) and let my body heal. I go see my doc for my two week check-up on Friday, the 19th.

Have a great day everyone!

Isabelle
