Anyone else having lower back/hip pain?

My surgery was 2/25, I have been having a lot of lower back and hip pain. I am trying to walk, but have to stop and sit a lot due to this pain. I am having no pain anywhere else so I do feel really fortunate but frustarated. I was wondering if anyone else had this and what did you do?

Anyone else having lower back/hip pain?

Hi Teresa,

At around 3-5 weeks post-op, a Dr. states that your internal stitches may be starting to dissolve, and many women start "feeling" their surgeries more, especially if they've become more active. There are countless stitches inside you that have reconnected your uterus' supporting ligaments to other parts inside you to lend support to the "new you".

When I had these pains, the best thing that helped me was resting more OFF my feet, and using a heating pad, which was quite soothing. Sitting is an "activity", and prolonged sitting can put undue pressure on those healing areas, so make sure you're getting your feet UP.

Of course, always call your Dr. about any concerns for your peace of mind.

My very best to you...

yes!

Wow, I just thought it was me. My lower back has been killing me! I had a TAH on 1/28 and have done great. But the back, yeeoow...I thought maybe I hurt it putting too much strain on it trying to sit up after the surgery. I walked around a mall Saturday and had to rest with the old ladies on the bench after a while because of the lower back. I guess laying around for a month doesn't do much for muscle strengthing, either. But, all things considered, I'll take the back pain instead of the cramps and bleeding.

Anyone else having lower back/hip pain?

I am 2 weeks post op LAVH/BSO and I had bad back pain immediately after surgery, and asked Dr about it . He said something about that being where nerve endings were and that's also why some women also have back pain with cramps or with labor.
I still have more back pain than anything else. If I over do it at all that's where I feel it. Consider this a signal to lay down, I think it's our bodies way of telling us we're doing too much.
Last night I had to take ibuprofen and go to bed at 8:30, because my back hurt. I vacuumed that day-big mistake.
I also have pain in the hip.

Take it easy

lower back pain/hip pain

Teresa,

On the 21st of March I'll be 7 months post-op --- I have a bad back anyhow, so the back pain i experienced was extreme -- but I didn't know if it had anything to do with the surgery (which was a TAH/BSO). I DID have the hip pain, however !!! All I can tell you is that it does finally go away! I agree that sitting at this point for you IS exercise, and I found walking (but not too much), helped emensely!!! My hip pain lasted about 3 and 1/2 months. But the more I walked the better it got. Now at 7 months post-op, I have none!! I do have back pain, but as I said, I have a bad lower back (some arthritis), but walking and exersise helps it also. Hope I've helped a litttle. Feel free to contact me if you'd like.

Jubilee TAH/BSO, fibroids, endo, and carsinoma insitu.

Anyone else having lower back/hip pain?

Boy I'm glad I saw this post. I thought it was just me. My surgery was 3/7 & I've been up & around doing really well. Hopefully not overdoing to much, but my lower back & hips are so sore. I thought it was from laying down too much. I've been doing stuff around the house, walking & sitting quite a bit. Maybe to much. I guess tomorrow I'll lay down & take it easy again. Thanks for all the great posts. Makes me feel better to know I'm not alone!!

Anyone else having lower back/hip pain?

I am also very glad to have seen this post! My lower back is killing me.... I thougth it was from laying down so much... So far no hip pain tho. Just low back. I am resting well and not overdoing I dont think.

I do have a bladder infection and thought that might cause the back pain.

God Bless You All,

Back Pain

Hi everyone,

I just became a member today. I had my TAH/BSO on Feb 22, and i've got to say my back has been killing me also. Not to mention the hips!

I am one of those who went back to work just for a few hours a week after surgery and i'm regretting it like crazy. I've stopped taking Percocet due to severe constipation and I find Tylenol really doesn't touch the pain.

Thank you to all of those who mentioned a heating pad! I'm going to try it today.
