Herbal Menopause Supplements?

Hi! I'm 36yrs.old. 3wks post-op LAVH/BSO on 2/28. Dr. started me on NHRT(Yam Based) NO SOY. so far so good. Will test hormones thru Saliva Kit in about 1-2mos. I decided on this therapy, becuase I'm very into the holistic healing . Unfortunately, my insurance co. won't re-imburse me It costs $115.00 2mos. supply Bi-est/progesterone/testerone 2x w/flax oil.

Has anyone had success w/herbal formulas that are in the health food stores?

Please respond, Denise

HOLISTIC, HEALING

Denise,

I am a no hrt sister, I don't get mine from the store I get them from a manufacturer direct, but it is a soy product. and also has the green teas, cranberry, black cohosh, dong quai, and take his vit/min suppl. flax seed w/omaga bone support, and joint support.

I did how ever go to the health store to get the wild yam cream,7% . And not really sure about how to use it the right way.

I like the natural way I also take coq10, let me know about the things you take. Is it a cream? always opened for new good stuff, and this does help me alot.

But some days my hot fl, are mor then others. I think It has to do with stress levels?

Herbal Menopause Supplements?

Hi Denise!

I'm sorry, I'm not going to be a bit of help to you as I've only been okayed to take certain vitamin supplements. I know there are others here that have had experience and I'm sure they'll be along to share their experiences.

I would make sure to double check anything you might find with your Dr just to make sure nothing is there that may cause you troubles.

I'm curious about your insurance not paying for the other meds for you. Do they have a pretty strict formulary that they adhere to possibly? You may also want to check with either your human resources person or the medical review department at your insurance, there are times that even though they may normally not cover something, they will if the Dr proves "medically necessary".

I wish you the best and hope you'll be able to find something that helps and won't cost you so much.

{{hugs}}

Vicki

Herbal Menopause Supplements?

Hi Denise,
I read a book you might be interested in reading. The Wisdom of Menopause, be Christaine Northrup M. D. I was taking estrogen for 2 yrs. after my surgery and have developed cysts in my breast. I went off the estrogen the first of Feb. and have been taking the Revival Soy supplement she talks about in her book. I've only been doing it for 2 weeks and I guess it takes time to work. I'm having about 5 hot flashes a day, but they are bearable. If you want to do it the natural way, read her book. She was on Oprah and The View recently. Has anyone else been doing the Revival Soy????????

Thank's for Feedback

I've seen her books(C.Northrup) I'll have to get that one.

SISTERNEED, I take Supernutrition Women's Blend, from(Vitamintrader.com) I like it alot!!! My NHRT is in pill form 2x a day w/tsp.of flax oil from a compounding pharmacy)Yam based, no soy. I just started taking Imperial Elixir Red Ginseng/Royal Jelly read that this helps w/menopusal issues, stress, skin, energy & good for adrenal glands, which helps us by still producing hormones that we need, & milkthistle for liver support. I was told these products should not interact w/NHRT.

VICKI, my hubby is going to get the # for his RX plan, so I can find out about what I need to get re-imbursed, since I went to a pharmacy that doesn't except RX-plans.

My DR. feels I really need some form of HRT because, I'm so young, but I'm going to see a new Women's Wellness Holistic DR. to help me manage my new transition, once I've finished all post-op visits w/gyno DR.

Let you know how I make out!!! THANK"S
