hello. my surgery is going to be done on may 6th. i have a prolapsed uterus and everything is really sitting in the basement. my stomack has been in knots but reading al the info from you ladies has made me feel better. I go in for my appointment on april 2nd to find out what is going on, at this point all i know is that it is being done vaginally.I complained to my dr that there was something hanging there that shouldn't be and she said it was just a spongy back wall. but because i had dysplasia show up on three paps she sent me to a specialist for a biopsy. the first thing he said is that i have a considerably prolapsed uterus and that i need to come in and have a hsterectomy. that is all i have been told, so hearing from all you what might be going on has made me feel not so has also given me good information about questions that i need to ask. i am 36 and had my third child 2 years ago so i am finished with that.for you ladies who have had this, will this get rid of my terrible back pain. my hips are so sore that it keeps me awake at night. i don't walk much because after 30 minutes each step is like a knife through my hips.i am really glad i found this sight ! it really helps to be able to talk to someone who knows what i am talking about. thank you very much!!!!:confuse:

Hi Wanda and welcome!!!!

I'm so glad you found us. I would have been so lost without this site when I had my TAH/BSO last year.

A great place to begin reading is our Pull Down menus on the home page...scroll down to the bottom. You'll find great lists...pre-op questions to ask your doctor, how to prepare your home & family for surgery and recovery...stories from women who have had the different kinds of procedures.

You can use our search engine (little purple button at the top right of each page) to search for threads on prolapse. There have been MANY, and I'm sure you will find a lot of helpful information.

Please keep reading, keep posting your questions, and stop by chat! We will all be here to help you every step of the way!

Hi Wanda. I had endo that caused back pain as well. Thankfully, surgery seems to have taken care of that and the only back pain I have now is from using those muscles more to compensate for not using stomach muscles right now. I'm confident that will go away too. The hip pain sounds like it may be something different. I had that last year and it was very painfull to walk (in addition to the lower back pain). A visit to the chiro showed it was sciatica. He treated it with an anti-inflamitory and adjusted my back (I was leaning to one side, that didn't help). It went away after a few weeks of treatment.

I had a TVH for the same reasons that you are having yours done. For me the Dysplasia was more of a concern, how ever since my surgery, I have found that I can stand or walk for longer than 5 min with out feeling like everything is falling out. I noticed a diffrence with in the first 3 days. However please remember that everyone heals diffrently. The one thing that I would recomend is that you become WELL INFORMED aobut what is going to take place and why. Remember you are your OWN best avocate!!! You are the only one that thas to live in your Body. Please fell free to ask any questions you have here and with your doctor or doctors as well. We are all here for you. I would also like to invite you to join us in chat when ever you feel up to it. Chat is a great place to chat with other sisters and ask questions, cry on a sholder, vent or just enjoy a good laugh.
Best wishes,
