Sleeping positions

Before I had my sons, I used to sleep on my stomache. But, then during pregnancy I began to sleep on my side. So, I just became a side-sleeper. Now, I'm 5 weeks post-op and I'm still sleeping on my back, slightly propped up (2 semi-flat pillows). I've tried to sleep on my side several times, but its just not comfortable. I also tried to sleep with one pillow and that was uncomfortable. Anyone else having the same problem? I wonder if I'll just sleep on my back from now on??

Sleeping positions

I've always been a side sleeper, but just after surgery I found it more comfortable to sleep on my back with a pillow under my knees. 4 weeks post op, I'm sleeping on my sides again, but sometimes I feel my tummy pull down. I sort of turn so I'm part on my tummy, part on my side and pull the top leg up so it braces me in that position. That's more comfortable. I'd like to sleep on my back, but I find I get more tension and pain in my back that way unless I still use the pillow under my knees. Don't worry so much about sleep positions, just be glad you're sleeping. It's 4:40AM now, and I've been awake since 3:30AM. Can't sleep tonight in ANY position.

I am also a side sleeper, I found that several body pillows front and back that way if you roll over in your sleep you have the support on both sides. Get the front one under your belly and between your knees for support. I had several back surgies d/t a spinal fracture and could never sleep on my back. I personally have 4 body pillow...I snuggle up to the everytime I lay down. Hope that helps!

Hi There!

I was the same way - I found it very uncomfortable to try and sleep on anything but my back for a good 4 to 5 weeks. Those pillows really did help, though - placing one under my knees to help take the pressure off my back and abdomen.

Eventually, I did manage to ease into my other sleeping positions, which include both tummy and sides.

Comfort is the :key: !

I second the body-pillow idea. I got one before surgery and it has really paid off. If I pull it tight against my belly, and kinda scootch my belly up onto it, it really helps everything stay in place so I can rest more comfortably.

Good luck!

Cheryl did what I did. Pillows all around. Besides a pillow between the knees, I got a folded towel and rested it slightly under my stomach when on my side. It gave my stomach support. I had no problem on my side.
