question for ladies post-op with prolapse

Hello again! still trying to get as much info as possible before my appointment with specialist so i know what to ask. i have a prolapsed uterus. You can see the cervix bulging out. when the surgery is done( he said it is being done vaginally, and told me nothing more) when they remove the uterus do they tack up the vagina to something always or do they just let it sit there. do they do a bladder pin up too or do they just leave it alone. if they don't do the bladder repair am i going to have to have that done down the road. i would rather have everything done at once .My mind is everywhere right now and it is so nice to have found a sight with others that know what i am going through.

If your dr. didn't mention bladder repair you need to ask him about it. If you have bladder issues that you didn't mention you may need to see a urogyn or urologist as some gyn's don't do bladder repair and have another dr. to do that at the same time of the hysterectomy. Although I didn't need bladder repair or having it tacked up, I did have to see a urologist and he was able to determine what needed to be done for me. Good luck.

question for ladies post-op with prolapse

Dear wand,

Here are some websites that address prolapse issues:

http://www.wdxcyber.com/nurine08.htm
http://pages.prodigy.com/prolapse.html/
http://communities.ninemsn.com.au/choiceforprolapse
http://www.pelvicfloor.com/

If you are having any stress incontinence (leaking when you sneeze or cough), NOW is the time to discuss it with your doctor.

Keep reading & posting... get smart about your symptoms and your options, and make the best choice for YOU.

I am sending huge cyberhugs

question for ladies post-op with prolapse

I recently had a vag total hyst due to prolapse of the uterus, cervix and bladder. Surgeon explained that there is tissue (thats not the right word, cant remember the medical term, sorry) that he pulled together between the vag canal and bladder, and vag canal and colon to rebuild the wall. My bladder repair was tucking it back where it should be and rebuilding that wall for support. No cutting or tac. My bladder had stretched and was huge. Had difficulty urinating for a few days. Other than that, the surgery was great. I felt like myself in a matter of days. I can see why it is easy to forget and do to much and hurt yourself.

Ignore my name, I was frustrated when I could not find a name I could use... (o:
