Tuesday~ 3/26/02

Good evening, All (or good morning for those who are already gone and won't see this until tomorrow).

For some reason, I've been having craving problems that I haven't had for quite some time. I've been so focused to keep my weight off since surgery, but feel like I'm breaking down. I know this won't last, but it's always bothersome and makes me mad when I'm not disciplined. Need to pick up the exercise routine when this happens. Fortunately, I haven't pinged on anything "bad" but two or three 2-pt bars and FF Pringles can still catch up! Guess it's better than real brownies and real chips. My dd and her family are going to Iowa to other grandparents for Easter, so we are going to her house for supper tomorrow night to take Easter baskets to the sweeties. I made my traditional Easter Bunny cake, she's cooking ham & au gratin spuds, so I must do extra exercise tomorrow morning, try walking at lunch and eat rabbit food all day so I can enjoy the supper. Need to hit the Bo Flex yet before bedtime won't hurt! Hope I can get as energetic tomorrow as Karan was today -- good girl -- but don't overdo!

Pam, hope you feel better real soon and will cross my fingers and say a prayer for the rest of your test results. It's hard to keep focused when you are down in the dumps and/or not feeling well.

Em, have you ever tried Boca Burgers or veggie burgers? There're not too bad if you grill them like a real burger and add some pickles and other lite condiments. I like the spicy ones for the extra flavor. I've also chopped them up and rolled up in a flour tortilla with salsa and then you can really fool yourself!

Ann, where was your fishing trip and what kind of tournament? My dh and me used to bass fish a lot when we lived in MO and really miss that. Tried a couple local amature tournaments way back when. Now we mostly have trout fishing and miss the variety that you can find in MO. I mostly miss the crappie! In fact I hate to admit it, but couple weeks ago just [fried up] a mess we brought back from MO last fall. Definitely didn't count points that day - ha! Gotta do it occasionally!

Dawn -- Hope you have another great OP day tomorrow. You're doing great -- as is EVERYONE!

I can't believe how much this group has helped me also and so glad to become a part. I am getting to where I hate when I have to miss. Probably won't get home until late from dd tomorrow though and Thursday I work a WW meeting, but sometimes I can slip on the computer while at work.

Thanks and good nite to y'all!

Jayce

Karan, I'd like some ideas on meatless meals. Jayce mentioned veggie burgers and I'll pick some up tomorrow. I need to do low-fat, so can't include cheese or eggs either. I do have Cabot 75% Lite cheddar which I can grate, but anything else would defeat the purpose. Can you still help me? 2 feet of snow? Wow. It's pouring rain here, but we need it since we had no snow this year.

Denise, happy for you that you had no gain this week. I love French Onion soup.

Jayce, sorry you're going through a craving period....we all know about that. Hope you all have a great time at your Easter Dinner tomorrow. That makes me think that I better pick up my Easter ham soon.

Wishing us all a great OP day tomorrow!

Hi Jayce --
We went to Augusta, Georgia, for a bass tournament on Clarks Hill Reservoir. My dh is a quadraplegic in a wheelchair and a member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America. We started bass tournaments in Florida for them 16 years ago and it gradually grew and grew until now PVA has it's own bass trail around the country. It is strictly catch-and-release. I love it!! We usually go to wherever for about a week, and I go out fishing with the guys during their pre-fishing and practice days, then during the tournament I help out with computer work and details, launch in the morning, and work weigh-in. 1st prize on Sunday is a fully rigged bass boat with motor and trailer. Lots of other prizes too. We pair up disabled anglers with able-bodied anglers with boats and they fish as a team on Saturday with a limit of 8 fish, their are prizes for the top 10 that night, then on Sunday only the disabled angler fishes with the able-bodied acting as guides and they both win prizes if the disabled angler finishes in the top 10.
If anybody is into bass fishing at all, you'll be hearing more and more about this in the future as we are getting more publicity all the time, TV coverage, and adding more tournaments to the trail, and our guys are starting to branch out and fish other tournaments that wouldn't let them fish a few years back because of their disabilities.
As you can see, I am really into this. Sorry to go on so long! Anyway our next tournament is here at home (Sanford, Florida) in April. There are tournaments in Maryland, Iowa, Illinois, Oklahoma, and Louisiana this year.
Take care all!
Ann
