prometrium

I had a compleat hyst about 18 months ago. I have struggled with hormones since The latest is: I take 2 100 mg caps of prometrium and one tab, 1.4 mg of estropipate daily. This has been horrid. I have this terrible breaking out on my face a cross between acne and a bumpy rash. I have gained 11 lbs in 6 weeks. I have no sex drive at all. and no energy!!!!!!!!I hate this. I am now suppose to take a hormone cream. I dont have it to try yes since the parmacy has to formulate it(?) and it wont be ready for 3-4 days. Since I do not have any parts left and everything I read about prometrium I fear I shouldnt have taken it? Please if anyone has any thing to share with me I will love you forever. I am so tired of all this. And I thought it was bad before the hysty!!! Thanks in avance

I'm sorry you are having such a hard time of it, sometimes it takes a while to find something that suits you and doesn't give you horrid side effects. HRT is not a one-size-fits-all thing as some doctors believe.
Estropipate is a synthetic estrogen and can cause problems for some women. Progestagins (synthetic progesterone can do the same). Prometrium (natural oral) may have been alright (sometimes 200mg is too high a dose, 100mg may have suited you better), but with a natural E2 bio-identical estrogen such as Estrace or one of the patches, not Estropipate.
Sounds like you are exploring the cream/natural route and you may find that suits you a whole lot better, many women here have had success with it. Good luck and let us know how you get along.
