Build up your muscles

I wish I'd remembered how much I used my arms when I had the C-section. I'm 5 1/2 weeks post op and have been using my arms to push myself up from the bed, couch, chairs etc, and my shoulders hurt. I did remember to work on my legs a little more before surgery and that helped.

Find a low-impact work out to help work on your arm and leg muscles. Yoga is also great for stretching and relaxing muscles and you'll need that later when everything gets stiff from non-use. Walking is good too, and you'll be doing that post-op too to aid gas and bowels.

Check with your doc if you have not done any exercize thus far.

Thanks for the suggestions. I did more walking pre-op and it does help.
I am looking forward to trying Yoga when I am a little further down the recovery road.
Keep taking good care of yourself.

Build up your muscles

It's true...the less we can use our abs, the more we will be relying on our arms and upper bodies to do the work.

Good advice...and good idea to check with your doctor first. Another positive side effect of a hyster....no more "bye-bye" arms after pushing yourself up from reclining for six to eight weeks!!!
