Castle Date!! (Sooner than I thought)

Good Morning. I am now officially a Lady in Waiting!
I had a D&C 3/22/02, and went yesterday for my follow-up at the Dr. He said he couldn't get any of the fibroids, and that he wants to do a TAH. It was a strange feeling. I was relieved to know that I would finally start to feel better, but at the same time - this is major surgery here. Anyway, my ovaries are ok, and since I am 38, he wants to leave them.

I did impress him with my knowledge I asked him about my cervix - he said no one ever thinks of that! He said that will stay, but his procedure is to cut small wedge in it to make sure all the uterine lining is gone.

Anyway, my preop is May 8, surgery May 17!! He offered my April 19, but my birthday is May 6 and I wanted to wait.

I also got a 7:30am appt! I have to be there at 5:30. He operates on Fridays, and said if all goes well I should be released on Sunday.

The only thing I don't understand is I guess I won't be seeing him until my surgery? My pre-op is at the hospital with the pre-op staff.

Well, gotta go calls. Happy Easter to everyone!

Good Luck :)

Well that is great, I found out the other day I did not have Fibriods but Adenomyosis, my uterus is very large, so the doctor told me to pick a date at the end of this month or beginning of May. I am going to go in as soon as I can.

One more period I will have to go through and I dread it.

Hi Bikerlady

It is very typical not to see your surgeon again until the day of surgery. It does seem strange especially if your surgeon was not your regular doctor. So sometimes you meet them once and then it's ....see ya in OR!
As long as you are confident he is a good surgeon and cares about you it will be okay. This is a very BIG DEAL to us but to them it is a job they do every day.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks Shelley!
He is my regular doc. I have complete confidence in him and have been going to him for about 5 years.
