ovulation pain after fallopian tube removal - who else has it? does it get better?

I've been having strong pain intermittently since my hysterectomy that I think is related to ovulation. I've been logging it, and it matches the timing of my menstrual cycle. Some cycles the pain is on the left side, and other times on the right. The pain lasts about two days.

I never had this type of pain before surgery, and it's pretty severe. For example, this morning I couldn't stand up straight to get out of bed without taking three painkillers. I took a shower hunched up squatting on the floor of the shower. The pain typically lasts about two days. My moods are fine and I'm not having any menopausal symptoms.

I talked to my surgeon today and he agrees that the location, duration and type of pain sounds like it's due to ovulation. But he says he's never heard a patient say that this type of pain developed after a hysterectomy/salpingectomy. He says that I probably had this pain before and just didn't notice it (trust me, with this level of pain that is NOT POSSIBLE).

I wonder if there's anyone else out there who's developed ovulation pain after fallopian tube removal? Does the pain decrease with time after surgery? I'm at three and a half months post-hysterectomy now (and have had five 'menstrual' cycles - I have always had a short cycle).

I am frustrated and depressed at the thought that I am going to have to deal with this pain every three weeks for years to come, and wish I hadn't had my fallopian tubes removed.

Hey there
I started having awful ovulation pains after the removal of my tubes last august. Pain exactly as you describe. I have 4 weeks ago had a full hysterectomy (due to some other problems) and told my surgeon to remove my ovaries at same time, due to this I am afraid! as like you I couldnt bear to think I would have these forever..

I haven't developed pain to that level (and I hope yours goes away ASAP!) but I have noticed that the twinge has gotten more noticeable, along with the extremely irksome sore chest that I've always gotten but that has been noticeably worse since the hysto.

Again, it's not to a debilitating level, but I have at least noticed that it's been worse than it was for my life prior to surgery. I hope yours clears up. *hug*
