A little nervous!

Hello All! I have never posted a message before, so please bare with me! I was diagnosed with endometriosis one year ago. At times the pain is so intense I think I can't stand it. So, anyone that has had endo., and a hyster...is the surgical pain any comparison to the endo pain? I have never been in the hospital nor had any surgery, so am a little nervous about this "unknown". I think, to, that my nerves are growing because I must put my surgery off until July due to my work responsibilities. Way to much time to dwell on this!!!!! Any advice would be most appreciated. I have visited this website so many times since January when it was decided a hyster is what I needed. (Lupron was the pits and did not work!) Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

A little nervous!

Hi jkw!
I did not have endo, but did have Adenomyosis which is like internal endo. I also experienced a lot of pain because of it. I am not sure what type of surgery you will be having. With my tvh, there was some pain the first day, and after 3 days I stopped most of my pain meds. You might want to discuss your pain concerns with your doctor. Most are very aware and do what they can for pain control with surgery. There are also different pain therapies depending on the surgery and you of course. Also, ask about a tour of the hospital and a view of what all is involved in the procedure. You are right, it is the unknowns that can make us crazy. Find out as much as you can about what will happen. Visiting Hyster Sisters can help too in that you can read of a lot of experiences and that will help you ask questions that make sense for you. Stopping into the Chat Room for some real time support can work wonders when you are feeling uneasy too. If it helps, I am very happy with my decision and my days are now free of the almost daily discomforts and sometimes 'drop to my knees' pain. I wish you well and visit often for lots of s and support!

A little nervous!

Thanks, Si, for your kind words. I will be having a total hyster. I like your suggestion about asking for a tour of the hospital. I will do that. I will also discuss pain control more with my doc. I am fortunate that I finally found a doc that likes to talk! I guess I'm really struggling the most with not wanting to be a "whiny baby"! I come from a family that didn't complain much and was from the "buck up" school of thought! I will be returning for many visits to this site as I prepare to face this surgery. Thanks again!
