Journals?

Has anyone kept a written journal of all their experiences from what first started the problems, through to the actual surgery and into recovery? Is it helpful? I've been debating on writing things down and am not sure if it will just set me up to wallow in misery, or if it will be beneficial for the mental/emotional healing.

Journals?

Hi Cat!

By the time the Hystersisters Store came out with the Journal, I was already a few weeks post, but I went ahead and bought it, and I wrote down everything I could remember about my experience, as well as symptoms, feelings, timeframes, etc.

May sound silly, but it really did (and has) helped me!

Especially when I pick up pointers on HRT (this is a current "project" of mine, to get myself balanced) - and all kinds of hyst-related things.... what to tell or ask my DR when the visits roll around....Personally speaking, it has really been wonderful.

Check it out! The HS journal is especially designed for OUR journaling:

I kept one

Hi, I have kept journals for many years. I just read one the other day (the one with my operation in it) and I was stunned by how ill I was. I had forgotten so many things, for example, how I was feeling before my operation, during my 7 day stay at the hospital and how the healing process was. Wow, at the time it really stunk! But the brain is a funny thing it helps you to heal by letting you forget a lot (mine has anyway) I guess what I am trying to say is, having a journal is a great thing, it helps you "vent" when you don't want to bother anyone and it helps you remember how far you have come.
