fluid in ears? Will they cancel?

My Lap hyster/BSO will be done on 4/16...
I went to my doctor, who said i have ear infection..gave me biaxin..but after just one pill, was allergic..felt like Knats were biting me! LOL

So he said dont take anything..just antihistamines?? But I said,"dont i need an antibiotic for the ear infection?" and he said " No..you have fluid behind the ears causing pain".Its not an infection???.hmmmm
I thought... One minute hes giving anitbiotics..next he said hes 100 percent sure not an infection?? Then how come they said originally it was an infection??hmmm???

I have surgery very soon...and i dont know if i trust my doctor?
My ears STILL hurt after a week on antihistamine (although I know it might take longer to work?)

If my doctor gives me clearance eventhough my ears still hurt..should i got thru with the surgery?
Im scared..this whole thing doesnt make sense to me..

what would you do?

fluid in ears? Will they cancel?

hello debz...
gosh do I know how you feel... my surgery is april 25... and I have been fighting an ear infection for weeks.. this is my second round of antibotics.. been on a z pack which is a 5 day kind of thing and now I am on cipro for 7 days... a strong antibotic..one they used in the anthrax scare and so far my ear feels worse than ever... I go tomorrow for my follow up with gp about the infection I'll post and let you know what she says.... also I am pretty sure that if this doesn't clear up my surgery is a no go.... she seemed pretty concerned that I had an infection so close to surgery date.... how about calling your gyn who is doing the surgery and ask him/her about it,ask if they will still operate if your ears are still infected... I think if dr. gave you an antibotic he must think or thought it was in fact infected... did you think to ask him how this would affect your surgery???
don't be afraid to ask questions... its your life....
hoping your infections clears soon.....
