bi-est 3 times a day?

i am having minor hot flashes about 5 times a day (nothing compared to before hrt) and i talked to the pharmacist yesterday and she said that i'm using the estrogen up really fast and suggested that i put the gel on 3 times a day at 8 hour intervals. this would give me an extra dose and therefore more bi est (does this make sense?) than i get on the twice a day regimen. has anyone else had to do this? it just seems like alot of hrt. i take 1 mg twice a day now. thanks. cynthia

Cynthia, I'm not too familiar with this. Maybe Lauren will be along and could help you out, otherwise I'm sure she wouldn't mind if you emailed her.

JMHO if it were me I might start out by dividing up the 2 mg into 3 doses. In other words 2 mg divided by 3. Not sure how much that would equal. If you're still getting hot flashes than I would try the 1 mg 3x daily.

i called the pharmacist back with my concerns. she wants me to try the full 3X's/day dose til flashes go away then cut back to the dose i'm on now. so i think i will try that.
kim...you always have great ideas and i will go to that route after a couple of weeks on the higher dose, i just really don't want to stay on a high dose for a long time. i measured the bi est gel in the little cream spoon and lo and behold 1 1/2 cream scoops pretty much equals 1 gel scoop. lucky me. thanks again for all of your wonderful suggestions. cynthia
