New Concern

Okay I have surfed and been on all the sites the hyster sister site suggests for info and really haven't found what I was looking for I know I will ask my doctor when I see him. But for now I will ask the sisters.

Okay here it is, I am having a TAH on the 22nd for Adenomyosis and my uterus is very large, the doctor says it is as large as a 16 week pregnancy plus. What are the chances of my bowels or bladder being attached to the uterus?? In all my readings it seems that it has happened to a few people. And is this common and why does this happen??

Any insight will be helpful.

This site has definitely helped me out tremendously!

I have been wondering the same thing!! My surgery is a LATVH/BSO for adenomyosis. My doctor did ask me if I had painful bowel movements and I told him I did sometimes, but I don't know if this could be caused from the adeno? My lap did not show any endo in the pelvic area. I know endo can grow on other organs, but have read that adeno can put pressure on other organs...I was wondering if they are doing my vaginally if they can still see if other organs were affected by this?? I will wait to see your posts! Best of luck on your upcoming surgery!!

I do not have all of the answers you are looking for. There may be other women along that can give you more specifics on the procedures with adeno.
My doctor did find adeno during surgery that had previously not been diagnosed. I do not know how bad it was. I had a 10 week size uterus. I had no bowel or bladder problems before or after surgery. (A little healing time aside.)
Good luck to you both.

I had a TAH for adeno and fibroids. My Uterus was 16 week sized, and there were adhesions from one ovary to my bowel. DR cleaned it up, but needed no more work .
I had IBS prior to surgery, but it is no longer a problem.(for now)
As so often seems to be the case, we are all different.
Not having that bovine uterus is great! I feel so much better, more "normal" than I did pre-castle.I think MJM93 is right, the pressure of an abnormally sized organ can cause problems.
Good Luck!
