Lurpon side effects vs TVH/BSO

Maybe I should post this in post op, but hopefully someone here can answer my question! I was pretty shocked when my doctor told me last week that he would remove both my ovaries too...I was planning on keeping them, other than a few cyst here and there, they are working fine...I do understand his reasoning for it..he feels that because I got total relief from my 6 months of lupron that the only way to guarentee a pain free post op would be to remove them, he is worried of micro endo along with my adeno...my question is, I had horible side effects from the lupron ( night sweats, insomnia, hot flashes, weight gain, and I was sooooo CRABBY)...of course I did talk to my previous doctor about these side effects when I was on the lupron and they prescribed me Trazadone for depression...I just wish I had found this site earlier! Since lupron throws you into a menapausal state..is this what I have to look forward to post op?? My DH and I are looking sooo forward to a "normal" life for me again, I don't want it to be bad! I have read a lot on the hormones and a lot of ladies suggest estace and prometrium vs premarin, should I ask my doctor to try that? Thanks for all the help and support here...I could NEVER get through this without all of you!!

Hi MJM!
Sorry, I do not have an answer to your question, but you could also try the Hormone Jungle message board and post your question there...here is the link:http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/for....php?forumid=5

Hope this helps...good luck!

I might be able to help you

Hi there. I am on Lupron and yes, the side effects you had while on Lupron are the same feelings and issues you will deal with in menopause. There are hormones out there, and your doc would be the one to ask which one is best for you.

Wanted to wish you all the best on your upcoming surgery.
