Eratic periods

Hi does anyone else have periods that stop and start. Mine generally start then stop after about 2 days, have 24-36 hours off then start again for a short while, have another break and then start again. My doctor says he can't explain this . only 8 weeks until I get to see a consultant.

Thanks for any comments.

Eratic periods

Can't diagnose that this is your reason, but mine did that and was because of the adenomyosis. I would maybe have one for about a day or two, sometimes brown (old blood), sometimes bright red. Then it would stop. A day or so after that, it'd come back but heavy with huge clots for several days to a week. As time went on, it got worse and more frequently. You may want to discuss the possibility of adeno with your dr if it kinda sounds the same. Not everyone with adeno has the exact same pattern though.

Erratic Periods

Hi Vicky,
I have exactly the same scenario! I ususaly bleed normal for the first day, then heavy the 2nd day. By the 4th day it is gone, and I think, Wow this wasn't bad at all, but on the 5th day it is back, with red and clots. So now I am going 12 days off and on, but definitely the 2nd and 3rd days are the worst, with heavy bleeding and clots. I am scheduled for my TAH/BSO on 4/22. I am assuming that the erractic behavior of my cycle is due to the fibroids I have.
I wish you the very best.

Too much bleeding

Hi! There are many causes for abnormal bleeding, and that's why the Gyn does tests and ultrasounds, etc. to see exactly where the bleeding is coming from and why it isn't just for one week a month! It could be as simple as imbalance of hormones, or due to fibroids, polyps, endometriosis, adenomyosis, hyperplasia, or even cancer. The Gyn can do a hysteroscopy where a lighted instrument is inserted and he/she can view the lining of the uterus. Sometimes a D&C is done at this time also. Hopefully you can find out the cause soon and have it corrected so that you don't become too anemic. s and best wishes!
