ok ladies, I have booked in to have a total hysterectomy - but am worried. Firstly my stomach already looks like a world atlas - I have had four caesarians and two ectopic pregnanies - I have four kids from 16 to 1. I am worried about how long it takes to recover - what hrt is ok - my doctor is saying go with estrogen implant - I don't know! I need feedback - I also am a big lady (overweight) and need to know how this will affect this.

Welcome to Hystersisters.
We are glad you have come here. There is alot of information available for you on the Home Page in the pull down menu's. Lot's of information on what to expect pre-op, post-op, etc., and other women' stories who have walked this path.
Don't worry many women of generous proportions have had this surgery and done just fine.
We are all different in our recoveries as you will read. But it is good to plan on atleast 6-8 weeks of rest. No lifting, no working, no vacuuming etc. You will be up and walking before you leave the hospital and it is important to continue the walking once you get home. Doing a little more each day will build up your strength and make you feel better. It can take 6 months to a year to really feal fully recovered sometimes. But I think most women can atleast return to normal activities within the 6-8 week time frame. Naturally check with your doctor during your post-op exams to determine what you are ready for and when.
Please visit the hormone jungle to get information on HRT replacement if you wish. Here is the link:
Keep reading and posting.
We are here for you.
