Sleeping Ovaries, How Long?!

Had TVH on Feb. 5th, kept both ovaries. No menopause symptoms prior to surgery. Since surgery had several weeks of hot flashes, then a break, and now some slight flashes starting, I think. Have been keeping my basal temps with no sign of ovulation in last 3 weeks. I've read several postings of "sleeping ovaries" post surgery. What is the longest anyone has had them sleep before waking up? Also, any comments on how long to wait before deciding I am indeed in menopause and beginning HRT? I had hormone testing done at 4 weeks post and had very low estrodial (under 20) and FSH of 44.5. Doctor said I can test again in about a month. Comments? Ideas? Comparisons? All welcome!

Sleeping Ovaries, How Long?!

From what I understand everyone is different. For some women they never wake up and I've heard others that woke up at 6 mos. I myself have one ovary, and it is in partial sleep I guess. As long as I take HRT I ovulate, but without it I was not.

You might want to go ahead and ask your doctor about some HRT if your symptoms have worsened or are bothersome. You can always go off it later if yours do wake up.

Hope it gets better soon!

Mine snoozed...

for about 3-4 weeks. I feel lucky since I've heard of women going much linger. I also got some menopausal effects from there slumber. Then BOOM they woke up dancing I was on a hormone rollorcoater blast until they leveled out. However that took even longer. I'd venture to guess about 2 months. PMS tells me there still working

Take care

Michele
