Soy
I, too, have tried Silk soy milk but the few times I've tried it, I had gas so bad, it was embarrassing...lasted ALL day and night! So, I'm afraid to try any form of it again. My husband drinks it and doesn't have a problem with it. Is there another form that is gentler on the tummy?

Lilybean, I have also tried several other brands and have not had a problem with gas at all, I did however have a bloated feeling however that went away after gall bladder removal. Being lactose intolerable this milk has been a blessing for me. You might try the 8th Continent brand, it has both a regular and a light version in the chocolate that tastes kind of like a real sweet chocolate milk. The vanilla version is pretty good too. I will admit I have pretty much stayed away from the plain soy milk but that was what the hospital gave me with meals so I can drink it in a pinch but the sweeter taste of the others is what I prefer, maybe due to loving sweets. Hope this has helped and you find a brand that works.

Endo/Estrogen?
Hi Sportwidow
I know it's been a few years since you posted about not using Estrogen due to endo -- I was wondering if you are still not using Estrogen or if you have found that you needed it? I've been reading several articles about how estrogen affects so many aspects of our health & body systems so, even tho I'm hesitant to use estrogen - thinking black cohoch - I'm wondering what route to take..... I'm 7 weeks out so just at the beginning of this science experient = my health

For Arlene - Olivia's Secret?
Hi Arlene & All
How did the Olivia's Secret work for you? I'd love to hear an update....
Thanks!
****************************
I am due May 19th to have a TAH along with both ovaries..I have been searching for an alternative to HRT as well..matter of fact that is how I found this wonderful site...I also came across a site for an herbal formular called Olivia's secret..I plan on trying this...it contains black cohosh ...false unicorn root...licorice root...dandelion root geritian root and juniper berry .. Some of these herbs are supposed to have calming effects..any thoughts on this? I purchased a bottle and brought it to my GYN ..he said it just may work...has anyone out there ever tried it? the manufactures say 30 to 60 days to realise full benefits.

Studies about Soy and Black Cohosh - INFORMATION ONLY DO NOT REPLY
OK, I've been taking Remifemerin for almost a month now and haven't noticed any change in hot flashes or being able to sleep longer than two hours a night. I know it says on the box that it may take up to 8 weeks to start working, but I go back to work in two more weeks and dealing with not being able to sleep at home is a LOT different than dealing with it at work. Does this stuff REALLY start working after 2 months or should I have noticed SOME benefit by now?

Hi Cherie
I don't know about the Remiferin but I do highly recommend the Arbonne cream I'm using. I started out using the Prolief (Progesterone Cream) & the night sweats stopped immediately. I am also using the Phyto Prolief cream now too because it has Black Cohosh in it & I didn't want to go without any type of estrogen after doing a lot of reading & realizing that estrogest effects so many of the body symptoms. I still have the occasional hot flash, most days. The sleep issue is tough... I still struggle with it. I have a friend who is going thru natural menopause & she has had help from a naturpath with this.

your answers
Just had my 2 year anniversary. Overall I can say that I feel 300% better. I still am not on HRT/estrogen. I used the cream one week because of inflamation I was having about a year ago. My skin is much drier, I seemed to have lost a lot of my hair initially (but its back). I still take the herbs when I need them - which is not much these days. My biggest hurdle is weight gain that won't come off! I still believe I have done the thing by taking the path I did. Glad to hear you found something that is helping. Every individual is different!

soy products
It has been almost 6 weeks into post op and have been drinking soy...yes drinking it I found the vanilla flavor mixed with some sort of berries (strawberries, rasberries) and made into a shake is really good. The vanilla tastes much better too. Organic version is better for you as well. Hope this helps. I've read so much on everything I'm totally confused but am trying what is natural.
Good Luck
