Having a hysterectomy in may

I was diagnosed with ovarian cysts on both my ovaries. They are the size of a bit bigger than a tennis ball (so i estimated by the sizes i seen). My doctor put me on birth control to see if the cysts would go away on their own, they didnt. we discussed my options and i am going with the hysterectomy due to the fact my ovaries cant be saved and cancer is so common in my family. I will be taking hormones following surgery. My question is this...

I dont know how many on here have had cysts, but I have had lower back pain on and off for a long time (cysts found in Nov of last year). For the past week or so, the pain hasnt left and it seems it is getting worse. It isnt a muscle pain, but actual pain. It is hard to explain. I do occasionally have lower pelvic pain, but that come and goes and isnt so bad. It is the lower back pain on the right hand side that is bothersome. I will be calling my doctor tomorrow about it, but was wondering if any of you have experienced it as well. The reason why my surgery is next month is because the hospital would not ok the operation until i reach 30. i will be 30 in may.

i also never had regular periods since i started having them. maybe 3-4 times a year if that. i have 1 child that i was lucky to have considering my history. i have painful sex and very heavy periods when i have them.

thank you all for any replies. oh, and any words of wisdom about the surgery and afterwards would be greatly appreciated. i know it will be painful afterwards, i had a c-section with my daughter's birth. i am just concerned about the hormones. i have heard horror stories. i am more concerned about that than anything else.

thank you
Jenny
