on the road again?

While I understand that the recovery time varies with each person I was wondering if someone could shed some light on this. I will be having a total hysterectomy at the end of April. I ride a Harley and will be anxious not to miss a moment.

I've never had surgery so I don't have anything to compare it to.

Can anyone tell me of their experience about when they returned to riding? I live in the midwest and all I do is wait for beautiful riding weather so this recovery will be particularly crummy.

I have a three week 7,000+ mile ride scheduled to depart July 23 that I'm praying I can still do.

It may seem like a dumb question in light of the big picture but...if you were a serious rider you'd understand.

Thanks and peace...

Good question

My dh and I are also harley riders and he ask me the same thing. We have my pre-op thurs 4/18 and you can bet that is on my list of many ? for him. Hopefully we have someone that can help us. We too have some trips we would like to plan this summer , but as of right now we are on hold with any riding.

I think that this is something best discussed with your Doctor!
My BIL and SIL ride all the time and I know what a HUGE part of their life it is!!
Everyone is different in the aspect of how well/fast they heal and how much they can take on too soon.
Ask your Doctor if there is a "ballpark" date you can shoot for when he/she might release you to ride again. And of course be a "Premier Princess" until that time to aid in your recovery and hopeful "Riding date".
Wishing you all the best!

Sounds fun

I think you will be just fine by the end of July. I think I could definitely do one at that point if it was in the cards. But check with your doc though.
FYI- Go to the purple search button in the upper right hand corner and type in Harley. I just did and got lot's of hits. Lot's of other Harley ladies here apparently.
Nothing like something to look forward to, to help the recovery along.
