are there any other pre-op things i have to do that is like that???

less than a month (may 7th tah), and my nerves are shot and i think everything i find out now is freaking me out.

boy i wish i had a laptop to take with me so i can just take you all with me for moral support.

anything i need to do before i go to the castle would be greatly appreciated. each day brings more anxiety and fears.

enema????

Hi, Jenny! You might not have to have an enema, but it's up to your doctor's pre op orders. You will get instructions from him about what to eat, drink, any medications, or enema, etc. that you need to do the day before surgery. I personally did not have to have an enema or laxative, but each dr and each surgery is different, and it's important to follow your doctor's instructions. You shouldn't shave your belly or pubic area ahead of time, either, unless your dr oks it, since little infections could be in the skin from tiny nicks, and surgery might have to be postponed. Hope this helps! s and best wishes!

enema????

I can't add anything to what Ruthie has already said. Your DR or the hospital will give you specific pre op instructions, and it's important that you do what they instruct you to, if you're not sure about something ask first.

Read the top thread that lists herbs, etc not to take before surgery. If you find yourself coming down with something shortly before surgery call your DR to find out what medications you can safely take, please don't self medicate, you don't want surgery postponed becasue you didn't know something like Garlic increases blood loss and you should stop taking it 7 days before surgery (the supplement).

enema????

Yep...each dr has their own set of pre-op instructions. Here's what mine had to say:

Clear liquid diet after lunch the day before.
One betadine douch the night before and one the next morning just before coming to the hospital.
An enema the night before would be nice, but he wouldn't make me do it.

I did the enema thinking that anything to help the dr out would also help me. BUT...don't do any kind of prep unless YOUR dr tells you too.

Feel free to ask any other questions that come to mind.
