Cardiologist appt tomorrow, Pre-Op ?????'s

Hi everyone,
I've been reading about being put on a liquid diet for up to 48 hours, and doing certain bowel preps and douches. I've only had 2 enemas and they were given to me before I gave birth to my 1st two children. I've never douched in my life, have always heard it wasn't necessary, so I'm hoping I don't have to do that.

Since my pre-op appt is not even 24 hours before my surgery, I'm hoping they're going to be sending me some instructions in the mail or something. I think maybe I'll call tomorrow and see if I can find something out. Has this happened to anyone? The reason for this is that my doctor will be out of town, and isn't able to do it until then.

I do go to the cardiologist tomorrow to get clearance from him, because I have MVP. I got my GP to set that up at the suggestion of one of the 's
at the U of M, where I'm having my surgery. She said that since my pre-op was the day before, I should see the cardiologist first, since with my rather severe heart murmur, I was bound to have an irregular heartbeat after an EKG, and my surgery would end up being cancelled. I was thankful for this advice, at least if he doesn't "clear" me tomorrow, I can explore other options.

I'm having the surgery due to severe dysplasia/CIN III, but had a cone in Jan (the margins weren't clear afterward), and have gotten differing opinions on whether the hyst is needed at this point. I considered it for almost 2 months, and just kept thinking that I'd rather just have it taken care of now instead of doing the pap thing every 3 months and waiting and worrying about results etc. I'm 43 and done having children, and I just kept coming back to this decision.

I won't even know which way she intends to do the surgery until the day before, since she's never actually examined me. The doctor that did my cone said he took notes at the time, and had thought it would be a "difficult vaginal".

Meanwhile, I'm just trying to clean, shop, and get after my DH to finish our bedroom, which he FINALLY started doing. at least I have a door now, and some trim, and hopefully will have carpet and closet doors and furniture by next week Thursday!!! (I think I'm almost ready to go into panic mode!! ) 10 more days!!

Cardiologist appt tomorrow, Pre-Op ?????'s

Yes, I had the 2 day bowel prep, but my preop wasn't until the afternoon before my surgery. I called and saw my MD's nurse a couple of days before that. She gave me the prescriptions to take starting two evenings before. By the time I had my preop with my MD and the anesthesiologist, I had already taken the anti-nausia drugs which make you sleepy. I was pretty groggy by then and didn't really remember any questions. So be sure to write any questions you have down and try to have someone bring you to the appt. My husband brought me and remembered most of the questions I had, so it was no problem.
