Should I be put to sleep?

I have had two other major surgeries in the past 4 years, both of them had me under for 2+ hours. The problem is when I came to I was horribly and violently ill. I until I thought my toenails were coming up also! My last surgery they gave me all of the medicine the doctor prescribed in 1 hour that was suppose to last me through the night and had to call the doctor back in because I was still ! So needless to say I am scared to death to be put back under, they are saying my surgery will take 2.5-4 hours !!! I asked the doctor but they are not excited for me to get the epidural because of the length of the surgery. What can I do???

THANKS!!

Should I be put to sleep?

Hi Jennifer!

I had always gotten sick on the table with my previous 4 surgeries, something about sensitive tummies and general I think. I had a piggy-back before surgery and I was fine. My surgery lasted 3 hours.

Please make sure to tell your "A" man/woman that you get sick on the table, they will make an effort to give you anti-nausea meds I'm sure.

I'm not sure what your situation is, but ask for both. I had both a general and an epidural. I had gotten sick during my generals before, so the general wasn't as "deep" and instead they started the epidural before my surgery so that I wouldn't feel it. I had absolutely no nausia after I woke up with it done that way
