new girl on the block

Hi, I just signed on, and am having a TAH and also ovaries, (can't remember the abb.) next Monday. This site is wonderful!! I had tons of questions for my Doc for this morning and you all answered most of them for me yesterday!! Even down to what to take to the hospital. I had assumed that it would be vaginal, so I was alittle surprised by the abdominal route. I am 50, and in menopause, so I think this is really the best decision for me. In fact I am a little excited about getting it over with now. She said I would be in the hospital for three days, if everything went well. Does that sound about right? Good luck to anyone having surgery tomorrow.
Thanks for listening,
Roni

Hi Roni and welcome!

I'm so glad you found us! I had my TAH/BSO 13 months ago, and this place really saved my sanity! I'm happy you are finding your way around to the lists and pull down menus.

The length of your stay can vary, based on many factors from what your insurance will cover to what your procedures will be to how you do post op. But three days sounds about average.

Keep reading, post any and all questions, and stop by Chat! There is no better place for support, info, and hugs. You are going to do great!!! And we will all be here to help you, 24/7!!

Hi Roni and welcome to Hyster Sisters!

I am glad you are here!

I am 7 weeks post-op from a TAH and I feel tons better than I did! I was admitted on Wednesday morning and released Friday morning. Every doctor and castle are different along with situations.

Please let me know if I can help in any way!
