Horizontal or Vertical

I am wondering if a Vertical incision is better when I have a "jelly belly" already???

I had a lap done in November 01 for wedge resection, and the incision at the bikini line became infected as the "rolls" did not allow it to breathe !!
Is there any other ladies that have this problem or any advise?
Thankyou

Horizontal or Vertical

I am about 50# overweight, had a bikini incision and had no problems with healing. Some ladies have said that after a shower they use a hair dryer (on the lowest setting) to dry the incision area. Or lay down and keep it exposed to the air until completely dry.

It is something to discuss with your DR. The ultimate decision is up to him/her. There may a reason why a specific type of incision is preferred.

The following is from a site called The Pelvic Floor. It's by a DR and shows pictures from actual surgeries, it is also graphic so I don't include a link to it.
"It has to be made clear that the smallest or most inconspicuous incision, is NOT always the best. Unfortunately I can't explain here why that is, but trust me, its true. Or better yet, don't trust me at all; ask your own doctor...
It is important to note that NO abdominal muscles are usually cut. The rectus muscles are separated from one another, and spread apart, using the retractor. The bowel is then carefully packed upward and out of the surgical field, using swabs".

Good Luck!
