Hurry up and waiting, but no surgery scheduled yet!

Hi everyone,

I am a newbie to this board. I am waiting for the call for a
surgery date for a laparoscopic hysterectomy. Just uterus and
fibroids going.

I am hoping that many of you read this post and can help me
in finding out what to expect and if I will go through any menopause symptoms. In my mind, I think it will be pretty much
a breeze to deal with, but I am centrally obese, with a hanging lower abdomen. I am 39 years old, turning 40 in June. I have no kids, and no man in my life. But, I have wonderful nieces and have been going through problems with these fibroids for almost
seven months. Been through too many tests to name to determine if I had other bladder problems or the pain related to arthritis and all that junk.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can give me.

Hi Judy

Welcome to HysterSisters.

By keeping your ovaries you should not go into menopause. There are no guarantees of course. But usually the ovaries go to sleep for awhile after surgery and then wake up and start working for you again. Hopefully they will work just fine for many years to come.

Also many women here are of generous proportions. Not too worry we all do just fine too.

You can use the purple search button in the upper right corner and do a search on ovaries or obese if you wish and get lot's of previous threads to read through. These are both common topics of discussion.

Keep reading and posting. We are here for you.

HI Judy

There isn't too much to add to SeeShelley's post. I am a woman of size and have an overhang I had a biniki cut and got along very well. I had staples and they took them out 4 days after my surgery. I healed very fast but I am a fast healer, but didn't have any trouble with my size. I was on 2 BP meds, and after my surgery my BP came down so much I am off one pill and we are kind of flirting with the idea of going off the other. So size wise I didn't have any problems. I had a tah/bso so I went on HRT right after surgery. But if you are keeping your ovaries you probably won't have any problems. God bless.
