Hi

Most of us are on liquid diets the day before surgery. But we all get different pre-op instructions. Have you received yours yet?
If not I would call the doctor to make sure they have given you all of the instructions you need.
There seems to be quite a span in hospital stays but I would say the average is 3 days. Again some are in a shorter amount of time and some longer. It would depend on what all is being done and how the recovery progresses.
Please keep reading and asking questions. Knowledge is power and brings some peace of mind.
There are alot of helpful pull down menu's on the home page. If you haven't already seen them please take a look.

Hello!

I have a question for you? Have you had your pre-administrations visit at the hospital yet? You know when you go in and they take some blood, do some testing, talk to you about your surgery? If you have, they should have gone over all of that with you and maybe even giving you a paper with instructions on it . If you have and they didn't tell you whether or not you should eat and drink anything the day before surgery, than I'd call them.

I was told not to eat anything after 8 pm and not to drink anything after midnight. I asked my DR the last time we talked before surgery how long I'd be in the hospital and he said 2-4 days. I'd call the DR too and ask him about that because not all instructions are the same.

I wish you the best of luck!
