Hello I am done and now I am a hyster sister

Thank you for the cute message on operation day .....i was so scared,now it's four days since and I am at the computer waiting to see if the overies will kick in or not......I was allergic to the morphine drip and the anti nausea meds so life was difficult until I got some toradol,so those of you waiting to go make sure you realize you may have an option on your pain meds.The morphine drip works great if you don't have to throw up every time you sit up ,not to mention walk.but then that was two days ago and now I am home waiting to survive the gas and the bowel issues.Thank you again for all your support and remarks about what worked.It has been a very great gift to me.thank you

I am so sorry you had trouble with the pain meds. Thanks for the heads up to the other that if something doesn't work then by all means ask for something else!

I'm sorry for you about the morphine drip! I imagine that the reason I was standing tall after my lapo was due to the morphine drip I got before I left because within a few hours of being home, I was bent over and could barely move! Man, after that drip, I was getting dressed, etc. and my DH came around the corner and was shocked to see me standing and walking!

I too had problems with constipation and gas (which are two things I'm really nervous about after the hyster). I called the nurse and she suggested mixing a tablespoon or two of castor (or mineral, can't remember which as the bottle is at home) into my favorite juice (which I did peach as peach juice is a little thick any way) and that worked well.

I hope you start to feel better soon and I really hope your ovaries kick in.

Welcome home ESR! I'm sorry you had so much trouble with the morphine! I had some nausea and they gave me some meds to calm down my tummy. I think I was hungry!

We'll see you on the post-op boards after you have rested for a while! Remember to walk, rest and drink, then rest some more. The post-op board will be there when you feel up to visiting, we aren't going anywhere.
