Handling steps

Will I be able to walk up three steps that go into my house when I come home from the hospital? I have had some people tell me I should not do this.

Handling steps

Hi,

I had my hubby help me up the small steps outside. And then again that first night up the 20 leading to our second floor. The doctor had told me that I could handle anything I felt up to doing! Please check with your doctor! Well meaning friends are wonderful for flowers and making meals. You don't mention if they have been through hysters though, do you know if they have been?

Hi KTR

Yes, you should be able to handle the 3 steps without any problem. I had 3 at my front door as well. Just take it slow and easy and take someone's arm for support.
You're going to do just fine.

Handling steps

Every Dr has different discharge orders. I had no restrictions regarding climbing stairs, some sisters must limit it to only once a day each way. But one question crosses my mind - the people who told you that you shouldn't walk up the steps leading into your house, pardon me, but what do they expect you to do? Stay in the garage? Or be carried into the house?

You will want someone nearby, as you will be unsteady from the surgery.
