anyone on premarin? Im itching and burning like crazy!

Hello to you all!

I am now 9 mths post op, and I was wondering if anyone out there has had to take vaginalpremarin?

I went to the doc about a week ago because I have been having discharge really since I have come home. It was just a white color with no pain or itching, but in the last few weeks I have iched, and burned and have about climbed the walls. When I went, he said that I needed help with 'estrogen'. This has not helped at all, and I was wondering if anyone else has done this.

He said that I did not have an infection, or vaginal yeast infection.

Thanks to you all! I sure hope someone can answer my question. This is driving me crazy!!!

Hi,

I have taken Premarin vaginally before, it was to balance out my hormones as they thought I was peri-menopausal. I used it for 5 days and got a wicked yeast infection. I finally went and bought over the counter vagisil as they told me that it couldn't be a yeast infection, without even seeing me! It was a yeast infection and once I was on the pills, it was tons better. The cream is messy isn't it? Maybe, I know this is awful, but get a second opinion on the yeast infection. It really sounds identical to the reaction I had.

Hi,
i just went to the gyn this last Monday for the same symptoms had been on premarin for the last month and had just gotten off of four days when they started.I didn't know if it was yeast or lack of hormones.I do use vagifem.Anywho I am wondering did they take a culture to make sure you didn't have an infection? My gyn took a culture and looked under the scope and came back and said yup it's yeast.Feel much better since taking the pills.Hope you find relief soon.

Vagifem may be a better choice for you. It's a dissolvable pill which is inserted into the vagina. But I'd make sure there is no yeast infection, have another swab taken. It's not uncommon for yeast to show up post hyst as the acidity of the vagina changes, also encouraging bacterial infection. Premarin may not have done the trick for you in keeping the vagina pH in balance because it's not 'strictly' natural - except to horses Vagifem is and might be best. hope you feel better soon
